Practice Areas / Customs

Svalner’s customs group has extensive experience in customs and trade compliance. We assist our clients with both advisory services and appeals. Our customs activities include import VAT, licensing and permits, classification, origin, customs value, product safety, CBAM, and compliance with the Regulation on Deforestation-free products (EU 2023/1115).

Our advice includes the analysis of customs structures for import, processing, and export to ensure correct and optimal customs management. We also conduct previews of import and export operations prior to customs audits.

Our advice includes assisting in appeals against decisions of the Swedish Customs on all customs matters, such as non-compliance, import VAT, customs surcharges, sanction fees, licensing and permit issues. We represent our clients before the Inspectorate of Strategic Products, the Swedish Customs, the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Electrical Safety Board, as well as before administrative courts. We also represent clients before the European Court of Justice.
